Red 2 – Summer 2013

Sophie and I saw RED 2 at the Cinema Carnival this afternoon and it was well worth it.  The scene where St. Andrew`s is involved in the movie was clear and well worth it and shows Bruce  Willis in the pulpit and a few people in the pews and a couple of shots outside when they walked down the steps after the funeral as well as a clear picture of the whole  outside of the church.

There was thunder and lightning outside and pouring rain, but we were cool and comfortable inside and didn’t care, until we got outside.   If you like action and good acting and comedy this is a terrific movie.  I give it 5 STARS out of 5.  – Rick Cessford.

CS Lewis – Surprised by Joy

“You must picture me alone in that room at Magdalen, night after night, feeling, whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. That which I greatly feared had at last come upon me. In the Trinity Term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England”

It’s Spring and we’re Bloomin’ Babies

St. Andrew’s has been “a burp” lately with infant baptisms.  Recently we have welcomed the families of Riley Margaret Lockwood, Tenley Jean Mallin,  Jager James Bowmer, and Ivy Grace Leclair.   We look forward to welcoming two more infants this coming Sunday.   May God bless these families. We look forward to getting to know them better.

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Power Through Prayer – E.M Bounds

“Our praying needs to be pressed and pursued with an energy that never tires, a persistency which will not be denied, and a courage that never fails.” A prepared heart is much better than a prepared sermon. A prepared heart will make a prepared sermon.” The Word of God is the fulcrum upon which the lever of prayer is placed, and by which things are mightily moved.

The Convert – G.K Chesterton

After one moment when I bowed my head
And the whole world turned over and came upright,
And I came out where the old road shone white.
I walked the ways and heard what all men said,
Forests of tongues, like autumn leaves unshed,
Being not unlovable but strange and light;
Old riddles and new creeds, not in despite
But softly, as men smile about the dead.

The sages have a hundred maps to give
That trace their crawling cosmos like a tree,
They rattle reason out through many a sieve
That stores the sand and lets the gold go free:
And all these things are less than dust to me
Because my name is Lazarus and I live.

Building Up – Being a Lego Servant (link to video)

One of five great videos, probably created for young people, but great for all, showing christian life lessons learned from playing with Lego. Very clever and very well done. Click here to get there.
